Frequently asked questions, care instructions

How come they are so colourful if they are made from glass?

Several chemicals (e.g. metal oxides) are mixed into the base glass during the manufacturing process that will colour the glass. What’s more, this way non-transparent, opalescent glass can be made, too! The possibilities are literally endless 🙂

For more information check out About Glass.

Glass is so fragile, is it safe to wear glass jewelry?

Unless you wish to wear glass jewelry under extreme circumstances, it is perfectly safe. I have been testing my pieces for over 12 years now and in my experience most of my jewelry is quite sturdy and won’t break easily, even when dropped.

How should I clean my jewelry?

Clean them with a damp, soft cloth, or, if necessary, you can use rubbing alcohol (e.g. if the surface is greasy). I don’t recommend to soak glued jewelry in water but a little water will not cause any harm.

How should I store my jewelry?

When not wearing them, keep your jewelry separately in their boxes/holders so that the glass won’t be scratched e.g. by a sharp piece of metal.

Should I take my jewelry off when exercising, swimming or taking a shower/bath?

Absolutely. On the one hand, it can be dangerous to wear jewelry for these activities. On the other hand, even though I use extra strong and water resistant glue, prolonged soaking may weaken the adhesion between the glue and the glass/metal.

Can I wear them while sleeping?

I strongly recommend to remove all jewelry before going to bed. It may be dangerous (i.e. the necklaces) and probably not too comfortable. 🙂

I have a metal allergy but love your pieces, what should I do?

I have a metal allergy, too, so I’m in the same boat! Thus all of my earrings have surgical steel backings/hooks. If you wish to have your stud earrings be made with titanium findings, please contact me.

Still have questions?
